**Morning**


Fushimi Inari-taisha — arrive before 8 AM. The inner trails are empty then; by mid-morning it crowds. No reservation required, open 24 hours.


Nishiki Market — 10 AM. Covered arcade, brief walk. Closes around 18:00; some stalls earlier.


**Afternoon**


Kinkaku-ji — 9:00–17:00, entry ticket required at the gate. No advance reservation. Crowds peak mid-afternoon.


Ryoan-ji — adjacent, same hours. The rock garden is the draw; the pond is a bonus.


**Evening**


Gion, Hanamikoji street — walk at dusk. No entry required. Visibility of maiko depends on season and luck, not reservation.


Dinner in Pontocho alley — restaurant-specific. Reservations advisable for any sit-down meal, especially on weekends.

**Verify in advance**


- Kinkaku-ji, Ryoan-ji: confirm hours haven't shifted (occasional closures for events).
- Nishiki Market: some vendors close Monday or Tuesday.
- Fushimi Inari: no closure risk, but summer humidity is significant — early start is practical, not optional.
- Gion: no reservation needed for the street, but specific ochaya (teahouses) are private and invitation-only.
